Once a month, Kelly dares Jessica to watch a film surrounding the monthly theme. These challenges are meant to scare, or unsettle, Jessica, and broaden her horror horizons.
KELLY:
After a month "break" since Jess had to watch Salo (1975) for Disturbing Films for a Curious Mind 3 I am back with a brand new challenge. Since we are traversing back to the 90s (my favorite era), I decided to go with HARDWARE (1990). A sci-fi post-apocalyptic horror film starring Dylan McDermott and evil robots! I haven't seen this movie in a very long time so I am going to watch it as well, since 20 years ago it didn't work for me, but I feel like it will now. Either way - ENJOY JESS!
KELLY:
As I suspected, I enjoyed Hardware much more this time around than many years ago. It's a dusty, industrial, edgy, indie, sci-fi horror with a banger soundtrack and terrifying killer robot. I wish the story was fleshed out more as I think they really had something interesting to say. There were some great shots and bloody kills! I recommend it!
JESS:
It takes a whole hour before you see the killer robot in this movie, and that is when I decided to care. I started to care and hope that the robot will kill everyone and end the misery of watching this movie for me. I still had 33 minutes to go and it didn't get any better. This is a movie that makes me mad - and it will prompt a rant if ever mentioned again!
